Accounting Classes

Accounting Classes are often referred to as “sub-accounts” on other systems accounting classes are used to track major groups or areas in your business like below, if setup these classes can be used to tag the source transactions like Journal entry lines, Invoice lines, payable lines, receipts, disbursements.

  • Matters/Cases
  • Attorney
  • Divisions/Locations
  • Case Types
  • Case sub types

LawAccounting allows you to create 4 Accounting classes. You can define all Accounting classes from a single tab using the Accounting Classes tab in the LawAccounting.

  1. Navigate to Accounting Home and click the Accounting Classes under the Accounting setup Menu. 
  2. Click new will popup below screen.

Accounting Class Name: The name of the class you are trying to set up, for example Attorney name, Department name, Location name, Case types
Active: Checking Active will activate this class to be available to use in the accounting transactions
Type: You can attach this class with one of the types, there are four classes possible. Keep the same class for similar class types. For example if you decided to use Class 1 as Attorney then setup all the attorneys using Class 1
